Brilliant bridge closure

Castlegar’s Brilliant Suspension Bridge will be closed for approximately three weeks as of April 27th.

The RDCK says they’ve been working with Canadian Pacific to remove metal-impacted soils within the lands near the historic crossing.

The Regional District says the non-hazardous metals appear to be residual from a significant train derailment that occured nearby in the 1970’s.

Access to the Suspension Bridge and a portion of Brilliant Road will be reopened outside of regular construction hours.
