Setting local wildfire mitigation priorities

How best should the RDCK spend $600,000 worth of provincial fundingĀ for wildfire mitigation this year?

Area A Director Garry Jackman is speaking as the Regional DistrictĀ decides which projects are priorities.

Jackman saysĀ of courseĀ theyĀ want to protectĀ residentsĀ but they must also think about protecting infrastructure such as water supplies that allow for fire-fighting.

HeĀ says the priorityĀ listĀ must considerĀ strategic thinkingĀ and a specific area’s ability to chip inĀ a percentage of the costs.
