Setting local wildfire mitigation priorities

How best should the RDCK spend $600,000 worth of provincial funding for wildfire mitigation this year?

Area A Director Garry Jackman is speaking as the Regional District decides which projects are priorities.

Jackman says of course they want to protect residents but they must also think about protecting infrastructure such as water supplies that allow for fire-fighting.

He says the priority list must consider strategic thinking and a specific area’s ability to chip in a percentage of the costs.
