GF mayor on fired/re-hire of CAO

The mayor of Grand Forks says it’s time for people to move on from the issues that are giving the city a bad reputation.

Frank Konrad is responding to the outcry by some residents.

They want answers about why CAO Doug Allin’s contract was terminated without cause by the previous council with a $192,000 severance package. The reasons for his termination are secret. But he was then re-hired by the new council a few months later. The severance was negotiated down to $115,000

Konrad says Allin is the best person for the job and the negativity from some is scaring away investors.

Some citizens plan to petition the BC Attorney General to look into what they see as the secretive goings on at the city and have complained that Grand Forks doesn’t have the money to dish out severance packages like that.
