Award for local fire fighter

A local vehicle-extrication specialist has been given a major award.

Dave Laramee of the Tarrys Fire Department has been honoured as BC’s Road Rescue Volunteer of the Year .

Fire Chief Greg Patterson says Laramee has been involved in training for many years.

Patterson says his department handles up to 40 vehicle extrications a year, mainly on the highway between Playmor junction and Castlegar.
