Castlegar physician recruiter makes headway

Castlegar’s physician recruiter is going the distance when it comes to attracting doctor’s to the community.

Cheryl Gnyp was able to garner interest from 23 physicians at a Rural and Remote Medicine conference in Montreal earlier this month.

The doctors could potentially fill locum positions locally.

Last month the city announced two physicians had been recruited to the area.

We asked Gnyp how many more doctors Castlegar needs?

Gnyp says she’ll stay in touch with the 23 interested physicians and try to get them to come to the area after they fulfill their current obligations.

She told city council last night that recruiting is needed as Castlegar is competing as one of 97 BC communities looking to fill 312 doctor positions.
