Nelson allocates CBT grants

Nelson council has awarded this year’s allocation of CBT Community Initiative Grants to non-profits.

As usual things were over-subscribed with requests for double the $126,000 available.

Councillor Anna Purcell says the Chamber of Commerce’s Regional Visitor Gateway at the renovated rail station on Baker Street was the biggest recipient at $19,000.

All applicants needed to meet arts and culture, social,environmental or economic needs.

Oxygen Arts Centre, the Kootenay Climbing Centre and Electric Tramway Society were among the other most successful applicants.
