Castlegar gets rumbled by Idaho earthquake

Local residents are reacting to an Idaho earthquake that shook homes in our region.
According to the US Geological Survey the 4.2 tremor hit near Ponderay around 10:40 last night.

Castlegar’s Justin Evin says he was “weirded out” when he felt his house shift.

Evin – a lifelong resident of Castlegar – says it’s definitely the talk of the town and he’s never experienced anything like it.

Earthquake Seismologist with Natural Resources Canada John Cassidy says it’s rare for tremors to occur in this area but it’s not unheard of.

The quake was one of two that hit Idaho last night.
