Some clarification on registering your off-road vehicles (ORV’s) with the voluntary period set to expire.
Many families may have vehicles that were passed down from family or don’t have original ownership papers.
Garry Jackman a rural director on Kootenay Lake says registration is still possible even for more multiple vehicles.
As of June 1st the new provincial laws will require all off-road vehicles to be registered with a licence plate. All riders must also wear a helmet.
Jackman adds while the laws govern crown land it is possible for jurisdictions like regional districts to apply to have their trail systems fall under enforcement so conservation officers and perhaps even RCMP could police the regulations.
