Two grassland fires in Greater Trail

Double action for the regional fire department in Greater Trail Monday afternoon.

They had to tackle two suspicious grass fires back-to-back.

Chief Terry Martin says they responded to a fire on Teck property in a tricky spot along Thunder Rd in Warfield. Less than two hours later they got another call.

Over 30 firefighters including Teck’s department were involved.

Martin says people use the areas to recreate and they have no idea at this stage how the fires started.
