Local PAC appeals to Ministry re Bill 11

The Chair of a local Parents Advisory Council says the language of Bill 11 is disturbing.

The Kootenay Lake District’s Sheri Walsh is speaking after she wrote a letter to the Education Minister regarding the bill that currently sits in front of the legislature.

Walsh says the legislation extends the power of the province while taking it away from parents, locally elected trustees and teachers.

Walsh also points out the legislation also eliminates school planning councils and parents are no longer involved in the development of school planning.
