Another boost to trades at Selkirk College

Another boost for trades training in our region.

The Province has spare funding for extra seats across BC including Selkirk College.

For the second successive year they’ll be able to add a second welding program intake and another for electrical.

Instructional Dean Kate Pelletier says skills shortages are very real in BC despite the current slump in the oil sector.

36 more students than normal will be able to get into welding or electrical at Selkirk and Pelletier says that will take care of much of their waiting lists.
