One of the biggest pieces of construction equipment in Nelson’s building history is ready to swing.
The 135-ft tall crane is going through final testing at the Nelson Commons development in the downtown.
Site Superintendent with ITC Â Construction Sean Dillabaugh admits it has become quite the attraction …for young and old.
The crane has been equipped with lighting because of its proximity to the Nelson Airport.

It will be able to haul loads of up to 6,000 pounds to allow for a speedy and efficient construction of the $27 million project.
It measures 108-ft from its huge concrete anchored base to the operator’s compartment and has a reach of 148-feet. It will operate 8 hours a day until the roof goes on the development by November.
The completed height of Nelson Commons will barely reach half way up the cranes structure.
