Local teachers join Bill 11 opposition

The government’s Bill 11 is an attack on everyone in the education system.

This from the President of the Nelson and District Teacher’s Association.

Paul Boscariol has joined the chorus of opposition from school boards and parent advisory groups who argue the government legislation rips away the democratic independence of local decision-makers.

He says up to now the government reserved it’s battles for teachers alone.

The government says the Bill – which includes the power to tell boards how to save costs – is about efficiency.

It also paves the way for regulating how teacher’s spend their Pro-D days.
