Possible local Seniors Games bid

Could our area host another BC Seniors Games ?

It’s something that Chair of our Zone 6 region Mac Gregory is pondering given the success of the 2011 event .

He says he’d be looking for another Castlegar-Trail-Nelson collaboration for a possible bid for the 2017 event.

It’s not clear if the East Kootenay may bid for those games too or if there could be collaboration with them. The Okanagan may also bid for 2017.

The Seniors Games are now officially called the Plus-55 Games and generate around $2.5 million for hosting economies.

Gregory recently awarded a plaque of gratitude to the RDCK for continued sponsorship of teams who are off to North Vancouver for this year’s games.
