Red Mountain hotel design approved

Rossland council has approved the concept design for the proposed new Red Mountain Hotel.

This despite reservations from the city’s Design Consultant Bob Inwood.

He notes the modern look of the three storey building is not in keeping with the more traditional “western mountain resort style” in the area.

He’s proposing the city refine its overall design guidelines so buildings closer to residential areas keep what he calls an “organic” look.

He says new projects closer to the commercial area – as this hotel is – could perhaps vary from that.
