Rossland’s water metering will make a huge difference in the longer term.

She says water use is down by up to 20% and that will make a major impact on the regional flow-based cost percentage they contribute.
Upgrades to ageing infrastructure under Washington Street will also cut the amount of water infiltrating into the waste system.
However water and sewer rates are expected to rise in July because the local utility is not covering its day-to-day running costs.
The vast majority of the costs are fixed for the system – in terms of running the infrastructure- so individual savings are not big, but Moore says collectively the community is making a big difference.
