Tree planting record attempt

Two local teams of tree planters are going to help try to set a Guinness world record Wednesday.

The Sustainable Forestrty Initiative has co-ordinated 1,400 participants across North America in an attempt for the most trees planted in an hour.

Interfor’s David Jackson says they plan to drop 5,000 saplings south of Nakusp.

Jackson admits the work was already a planned part of their regular reforestation efforts but there will be a bit more to it this time around.

Atco Wood products will have a team planting north of Rossland.

The attempt starts at 10 am today.
