Nelson releases composting report

Any businesses or institutions in Nelson interested in organised composting now have an excellent resource they can use.

The city commissioned a consultant to compile a report on composting machines and practices.

Councillor Janice Morrison says the city itself isn’t putting money into larger scale composting but this report is available to the public.

The report shows that for an average $26,000 there are modern composters that can manage organic waste for up to 140 people.

Residential composting is something the RDCK may look at in future.
