Porch fire spotted early in Nelson

It seems things could have been worse as fire crews were called to a house in Nelson’s Uphill neighborhood last night.

They received a call just before 11 pm about flames and smoke coming from the front porch.

The first arriving fire fighters made sure the blaze did not spread inside the house and all occupants were out and accounted for.

Captain Rick Maida says the residents are lucky.

Maida says the fire isn’t suspicious but the cause is still under investigation.
