Locals who rent their homes through Airbnb or VRBO are benefitting from regional tourism marketing efforts but not chipping in.
This from Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism executive director Diana Ducs.
She says she’ll be doing some outreach to try to bring those home owners onboard.
The regional tourism marketing organization is financed via a two pe rcent tax charged by accommodators with four or more rooms, or by businesses who chip in $150 a year.
This money goes to the website, advertising, trade shows or hosting travel journalists.
