The blaze that took off in the forested area west of rural Rossland over the weekend was caused by a previous fire that re-ignited.
This from Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Chief Terry Martin who says the fire in the Big Sheep area about 25 kilometres along the old Cascade Road is a big lesson for all of us.
A big response by almost 30 fire fighters as well as crews and a water bomber from the Wildfire Management Branch got things under control.
Initially properties were put on evacuation alert but it didn’t come to that.
