No bear bins for Trail this year

The City of Trail is recommending the RDKB take responsibility of local bear bins – because they aren’t going to do it.

Silver City Council has decided they will not service the bins at the Public Works yard and Bocce Pits on Rossland Avenue through to 2015.

Concerns outlined in a staff report were heavy and inappropriate usage of the bins driving up operation costs and unenforced tipping fees.

Councillor Sandy Santori says the bins are not being used for their initial purpose.

The staff report also says it is not clear whether the bins are having a material impact on the amount of bear issues within the City.
