MP cheerless after Air Canada CGR Airport meeting

Local Kootenay MPs Alex Atamanenko and David Wilks met with Air Canada in Ottawa Wednesday to discuss what can be done to improve reliability at the Castlegar airport.

But Atamanenko says they learned some harsh realities about the limitations of new Nav Canada technology. It can help planes land with lower approach ceilings but not for take-off.

And he says there are other issues to equipping the new Q 400 planes with the special landing software.

He and Wilks still want to meet with Nav Canada to see if there’s anything further that can be done for Castlegar.
