Rally planned for GF councillor

A public show of support is being planned for Grand Forks city councillor Julia Butler.

A group of citizens – including those who have been very vocal against the universal water meter program – say they plan a rally outside city hall Friday.

They claim the charges against butler are trumped up.

Council has voted to apply to the Supreme Court to have Butler kicked off council for direct conflict of interest regarding the meters. Butler opposes the water meter program and refutes the allegations.

The city can’t speak to the conflict but it’s believed to centre around a lawn care company she continued to own after election.
She has since dissolved it.
