Nelson market to sell packaged liquor

New provincial rules means alcohol can now be sampled and sold at outdoor markets and that will happen in Nelson this summer.

Council and the police have okayed things.

West Kootenay Eco Society Markets and Events Director Jesse Woodward says there are a few local alcoholic beverage producers who’ll be interested.

But he admits to being hesitant.

The liquor sampling and retail will happen only at the Wednesday Baker Street market and like any retail liquor purchase it can not be consumed in public.

It will not be available at the Cottonwood or summer Friday night Marketfest.
