Fatal rural GF fire looked deliberately set

Police believe the large fire at a rural residence north of Grand Forks this week started near the body of a man found after the blaze was extinguished.

RCMP Corporal Richard Lantz says there’s evidence to suggest the man took his own life before igniting the home on Brown Creek Road.

Lantz says the coroner’s office now has control of the investigation.

Several out buildings and vehicles were also on fire.

Fire fighters from Grand Forks and Christina Lake battled the fires for approximately eight hours.
