About a hundred people showed up for the lunch time rally Friday in support of embattled Grand Forks city councillor Julia Butler.
The event was arranged by anti water meter campaigners.
Among the speakers was Beverly Tripp who told the crowd that continued secrecy by city hall and council was costing taxpayers dollars and leading to frustration in the community.
Council has petitioned the Supreme Court to have butler kicked off council for conflict of interest and breach of oath.
Butler – who is against the water meter program – refutes she’s in conflict which she says is connected to her previous lawn care business.
The city isn’t commenting on what the conflict is.
