Local temperature records blown away

Record daily temperatures are being blown out of the water during this current heat wave.

This from Southeast Fire Centre Weather Forecaster Chris Cowan who says the previous high is 31 C with Monday expected to reach 35 C.

Cowan points out the average day-time high for June is 23 C.

He says there will be another few days of this.

Cowan says June has a reputation of being wet recently but he says the precipitation for the month can range anywhere between 30 mm to the 240 mm the area received in 2012.

A very strong ridge of high pressure due to a warmer Pacific ocean is causing the heat wave. Records were set in many B.C communities Sunday including Castlegar where it reached 34.7 C.
