A Trail nurse is reliving a tragic incident after receiving the Award of Exceptional Recognition for Valour from the Calgary Police recently.
In the middle of a wintry chaos in December 2013 Braedon Mauro used his instinct to try to save another man’s life on the way to the Calgary Airport.
Mauro – who is now 24 – was eventually able to get out of the car and realized traffic had stopped because a man was lying in the middle of the busy highway.
Mauro ran into the middle of the road to try to resuscitate the man while cars were sliding by on both sides.
He stayed with the man until emergency services finally arrived.
Unfortunately he did not survive his injuries.
