Frustration with low lake levels

Some deep frustration on the Arrow Lake to news that water levels will be very low this summer.

Area Director on the northern part of the lake Paul Peterson says it’s devastating for tourists trying to boat to camp grounds and for fishing.

And he says it highlights some key needs from any future Columbia Treaty negotiation with the US.

The low winter snowpack and dry spring combined with treaty obligations to release more water to an even drier US means levels will peak soon.

They are expected to be around 12-feet or more lower than last summer.
