Kaslo gets age-friendly recognition

The village of Kaslo is among eleven communities in BC being formally recognised by the provincial government for their age-friendly efforts.

Janice Murphy is the Executive Director of the North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society.

She says they got things going after an age-friendly assessment in 2013 highlighted some key needs.

23% of Kaslo’s population falls into the seniors category.

Kaslo will be able to display an age-friendly poster endorsed by the province and they get a modest thousand dollar reward to put towards an appropriate project.
