Traffic issues raised for Nelson Landing

Most of the concerns raised at Thursday night’s Public Hearing on the large Nelson Landing development were about traffic.

Locals are worried the project plans to get to a 70-unit build-out before a second access is put onto the waterfront Sproat Drive.

But developer Allard Ockeloen says traffic studies show this is not a major issue.

Up to 265 homes, a hotel (with reduced capacity compared to the initial plan) and commercial space could be built along the old KFP mill site over a 20 year time frame. Red Sands Beach would be donated to the city as a park.

Council can not comment publicly until 3rd reading which is expected in the coming weeks.
