Society has missed the window on electric cars but Nelson could be a leader in pushing electric public transit.
That’s the message from councillor Valerie Warmington.
She attended a Renewable Cities conference in Vancouver recently where scientists stated the world’s climate doesn’t have the thirty years it may take to fully embrace electric cars.
Scientists say electric transit is the future.
Warmington – who is on the regional transit committee – says Nelson can harness it’s own hydro utility, a famous creative spirit and a reputation for addressing emmissions to find solutions. She’ll be getting the community conversation going soon.
