Search goes on for Joe Moyer

A commercial helicopter was deployed Monday in the search for missing rural Nelson man Joe Moyer.

But there was no success in locating the 42 year old from Blewett Road who’s believed to have some mental health issues. He hasn’t been seen since Saturday morning.

RCMP Inspector Tom Roy spoke late in the day.

The missing man was in bare feet but otherwise well-clothed when he walked off with his black lab dog Saturday.

The dog’s name is “Angel” and even though it has been described a “defensive” when it is with its owner Roy said it certainly wouldn’t do any harm for any trail users to call out the dog’s name. Just a bark may help pinpoint Moyer.

The area around Kootenay Canal and Rover Creek have been searched. RCMP were hoping to have their own search chopper in the air Tuesday.
