Retardant lines holding on Sitkum-Duhamel wildfire

Things are going in the right direction – literally- when it comes to the Sitkum-Duhamel Creek wildfire above the north shore of Kootenay Lake.

Fire Information Officer Jordan Turner says the retardant lines that have been put down between the fire and properties are holding.

The fire is measured at 300 hectares but has mainly grown up the mountain since we saw some quick downward movement Saturday.

The evacuation alert for around 350 residents remains in place.

30 fire-fighters are on site with heavy equipment and lots of air tanker support.
