Pine beetle group mulls future

The Southern Interior Beetle Action Coalition needs to determine if there is still a role for them to help rural communities.

This from Vice Chair Grace McGregor – who is also the RDKB Chair – as the economic development group is going through a transitional phase.

McGregor says the money they were initially given was meant to run out.

She explains they received millions of dollars in funding from the province over the years -with some backing from regional districts – to aid communities impacted by the pine beetle.

But there is only about $700, 000 left.

B.C. adds 5k jobs in June, led by gains in part-time work
