Nelson backing national pharmacare

Nelson Council is joining the push for a national pharmacare program.

It has unanimously endorsed a call for Canada to create a national program to bulk-buy prescription medicines.

Some reports suggest that would save taxpayers billions of dollars a year.

Councillor Janice Morrison spoke to the issue at this week’s council meeting and says many doctors have called for this before.


Canada is the only country with a national health care program that does “not” have a national prescription drug program.
