Rally protests Community Mail Box move

A rally in Nelson Monday afternoon against Canada Post’s move to Community Mail Boxes.

A modest crowd showed up to voice their opposition to the end of door-to-door delivery across the country.

It will end in the Queen City next year.

One of the speakers – NDP Opposition House leader Peter Julian – says almost no one wants Community Mail Boxes.

Canada Post says the move will save taxpayers money and keep the service sustainable.

Critics say it’s bad for seniors and jobs and is an erosion of a public service.
