Nelson cop bitten by ‘combative woman’

A Nelson police officer has sustained an unusual injury while dealing with a suspect.

They were bitten in the leg by a woman who’d been brought to the station late Monday night.

The initial call came after tenants and the landlord complained of the woman who had refused to leave a downtown residence and was threatening others.

She refused to ID herself and as police arrested her she became combative .

Officers got her back to the station but that’s when she took up the fight again, this time biting an officer in the leg.

She’s facing several charges including assaulting a police officer.
