Paulson Bridge rails and abutments “significantly damaged”

Structurally the Paulson Bridge in the Boundary is  safe but there is significant damage to the guard rail and abutments.

This from our region’s Ministry of Transportation District Manager Hugh Eberle , who is is speaking following the dramatic incident Tuesday. A B-train tractor-trailer unit hit the bridge and flipped.

Engineers are investigating the extent of the damaged components.

Eberle says fortunately for the driver the guard rail did its job.

Both the tractor and trailer units flipped on the bridge as he was heading downhill in a westerly direction.

That also sent its load of lumber across the bridge and into the valley 260-feet below.
