Nelson seeks short-term rental regulations

The City Of Nelson has no intention of banning short-term rentals by homeowners, but they’re taking a look at tightening up regulations.

That’s the message from the city’s Alex Thrumm who has started community engagement.

There’s been an explosion in rentals through the likes of Airbnb prompting complaints from neighbours about parking and noise and concerns about fire safety for example.

Thrumm says the city is now running a survey.

Thrumm will host informal talks and a stakeholder meeting before a public town hall on June 21st.
