Airstrip at Crawford Bay decommissioned

No more aircraft service on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.

The airstrip, owned by Kokanee Springs Golf Resort in Crawford Bay has been decommissioned.

The 2, 900 foot grass airstrip, across the highway from the resort, accommodated small planes and charters.

General Manager Richard Bertram says it was a financial decision.

Bertram points to improved highway infrastructure for the decline in flights.
