Interfaith climate change meetings resume in Nelson

More interfaith climate change discussions are on the way in Nelson starting Friday.

Last year several churches in Nelson and Castlegar teamed up with the West Kootenay EcoSociety in the wake of the pope’s encyclical on climate change.

EcoSociety executive director Montana Burgess says it was very successful so they’ll do it again

The meetings will be held on the 22nd of each month culminating in an event on earth day next April.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, July 22 at 7 p.m.: Kootenay Shambhala Meditation Centre, 812 Stanley St.

Bringing Humanity into Harmony with the Elements: The Japanese Art of Flower Arranging

Monday, Aug. 22  at 7 p.m.: Nelson United Church, 602 Silica St. Nelson

Chants for Climate Justice

Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.: Nelson Unitarian Spiritual Centre, location TBA

Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:15 p.m.: Yasodhara Ashram, 527 Walkers Landing Rd., Kootenay Bay

Evening prayer vigil and community tour

Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.: St. Saviours Pro-Cathedral, 701 Ward St.

Lowering carbon footprints

Thursday, Dec. 22: Shambhala Meditation Centre, 812 Stanley St.
