Lydia Kania, 91, leads Slocan Valley housing hike

The Slocan Valley Hike or Bike for Seniors Housing kicks off Friday.

It’ll see people journeying on the rail trail to raise funds for a seniors housing project.

Lydia Kania, 91, has already raised more than $5,700.

She’ll do the walk herself which stretches from Crescent Valley to Slocan over three days.

In 1998 Kania completed a nine-day, 230 km hike to raise money for the Passmore lodge.

This time the society wants to build 12 units of seniors rental housing in Slocan City.
