The new outreach team working with Nelson’s street population has had 17 major individual successes so far.
Project manager Lynda Dechief told city council about them this week.
Dechief says between October and December they had 529 interactions with 111 people.
Most folks just needed their help once but 13 required ten or more services.
Those people are mostly male, between 40 and 50, and longtime Nelson residents.
The one-year pilot project is intended to help the street population and reduce conflicts.
