Fuel treatment underway in Kokanee Creek Park

The Regional District of Central Kootenay and BC Parks are hand-treating 7.9 hectares in two campsites at Kokanee Creek Provincial Park.

The work, expected to last until May 9, is an effort to protect recreation opportunities, biodiversity values, and the adjacent community from potential wildfires, the RDCK said in a news release.

Both the group campsite and Redfish campground are involved. Trails in those area may not be accessible during the project.

Funding for this project was made available through a grant from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC.
