Corky Evans calls for NDP, Greens to team up

Former Nelson-Creston MLA Corky Evans is calling for the provincial NDP and Green Party to co-operate.

Evans is one of five former New Democrat MLAs who have signed an open letter.

He says the two parties have common ground.

He points to electoral and campaign financing reform as areas where the parties could work together.

He also thinks the Greens should be given official party status, despite having only three seats, hearkening back to the 2001 election when the NDP only had two seats.

The Greens tentatively hold the balance of power and are negotiating with both the NDP and the Liberals.

That’s pending the outcome of recounts expected to begin Monday.
