Nelson’s L.V. Rogers secondary is 3-and-0 so far at the girls AA soccer championships and is guaranteed to play for a medal.
Coach Chuck Bennett thinks the host team has a good shot at repeating as champions.
Bennett says about three-quarters of last year’s team is returning, but they have lost their star striker.
In their opening match this morning, they beat St. Michael’s University School 1-0.
They then beat Nechako 7-0 and D.W. Poppy 3-0 today.
They will play again at 6 p.m. to determine whether they will play for bronze or gold tomorrow.
Sixteen teams are taking part, including Trail’s J.L. Crowe.
Matches are at the lakeside fields and run through Saturday afternoon.
