Nelson city council will allow Wildflower school to put an observation bee hive in a classroom.
Councillor Michael Dailly says after a recent presentation he’s convinced of the “benign nature of bees.”
Dailly says depending on the results of the pilot project the city might allow backyard beekeeping.
The observation hive is intended to give students insight into the life cycle of honey bees.
